First United Methodist Church Goes to Mid-West Missions Distribution Center
Members of the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church traveled to the Mid-West Mission Distribution Center on Friday, March 18, 2011 for a day of service. While at the center the volunteers put together health kits to aid Japan in the wake of the Earthquake and Tsunami.
The Mid-West Distribution Center specializes in disaster relief materials to aid people in their recovery from floods, fires, tornadoes and hurricanes.  They also send humanitarian aid, medical goods and educational goods all over the world. In 2010, the center sent out 49 international shipments and 139 domestic shipments. In total, since opening ten years ago the center has sent out over 1900 shipments throughout the United States and the world. Afghanistan, Algeria, Barbados, Belarus, Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, Congo, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jamaica, Kenya, Laos, Liberia, Mexico, Monrovia, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, Tobago, Trinidad, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe have all received aid from the center.

The MMDC staff has received requests to aid in the relief in the south for floods and tornado damaged areas.  Once again the disaster relief inventory will be at zero. Your continued help will be greatly appreciated.
